Photo Credit from the very talented: I Heart Creative

Thank you for stopping by. I'm Rebekah, but you can call me Beckie. I am originally from Kailua, Hawai’i. So I say funny words like pupu (sounds like poopoo but means appetizers ) or pau (pronounced pow, meaning finished). There is a Hawaiian saying that goes: “You can take the girl from the island but not the island from the girl.” This holds true for me.

I moved to California to be with a boy (who is now my husband). We now have what I like to call a small farm that includes: two little girls, Lani our dog, Roger + Lilo our orange tabby kitties. We used to have three chickens: Ballerina, Dottie #2 and Harry #2 (I can explain later what happened to Dottie #1 and Harry #1—let’s just call it a life lesson for now). And occasionally our neighbor raccoon named Christopher stops in.

For 11 years I worked as a flight attendant. After having babies I decided to be a stay at home mom. Shortly after that is when I realized photographing my own became really important to me. Whether it was at the beach or at home, I wanted to be able to remember it all. After all, that is why we take photos right?!

Photography started out a hobby that turned into a career 8 years ago. I started out working as a second shooter and lead shooter for 3 years for multiple photographers. I’ve learned from the best photogs in the community. I’m blessed to say many of them have become good friends. I’ve taken various online classes and make a point to attend workshops to continue my education and creativity.

Family sessions are by far my favorite. It may be a 15 minute session or during family portraits at a wedding. The real fun begins when I have to unleash my unconventional methods to get the babes to look or smile. Some of my methods include dolphin or monkey calls, acapella baby shark, or if your are lucky I may belt out an original tune that just comes to me in the moment along with some classy dance moves. Unconventional? YES! But I do what I must to get that shot!

Rebekah Kearns Photography strives to organically capture each family as they are. It would be honor to photograph your family’s story. It is, what I like to call, Forced Family Fun!

ps. fun fact: I LOVE and LIVE for Christmas. If you ever want to talk Christmas I’m your person.
